UPDATE: It’s not “personal.” Jon Hamm says he’s “surprised” his recent interview quotes — the ones in which the “Mad Men” star called Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton “f*#@ing idiots” and blasted today’s Kardashian-loving culture for celebrating “stupidity” — have become a news story.
“I don’t know Ms. Kardashian,” Hamm said to E! News. “I know her public persona. What I said was meant to be more on pervasiveness of something in our culture, not personal, but she took offense to it, and that is her right.”
Hopefully that puts this exchange of words to rest.
Kim Kardashian is no stranger to haters, but she sounds more than a little “Mad” at Jon Hamm after she was slammed by the “Mad Men” star in a new interview.
The 31-year-old reality star defended herself over comments made by Hamm in Elle UK, in which he blasts reality stars such as Kardashian and Paris Hilton (both “stars” of sex tapes, we might add) for being “f*%#ing idiots.”
Kardashian responded Monday via Twitter, saying that while she “respects” Hamm’s opinion, it is her opinion that his comments are “careless.”
“We’re all working hard and we all have to respect one another,” Kardashian writes. “Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates, “stupid,” is in my opinion careless.”
“Not everyone takes the same path in life,” she adds.
Hamm’s main, uh, beef with Kardashian is that today’s culture celebrates her brand of mindless entertainment.
“Whether it’s Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian or whoever, stupidity is certainly celebrated,” Hamm says in the interview. “Being a f*&%ing idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you’re rewarded significantly.”
The fifth-season premiere of “Mad Men” airs Sunday, March 25 at 9/8c on AMC.
