Susan Lucci is coming back to anchor another ABC soap, this time in prime time, locking in a deal to co-star in the network pilot of “Devious Maids.”
According to Deadline, Lucci will play Genevieve Delacourt, “a beautiful, wealthy woman who is gently crazy. Having spent her adult life attracting one powerful man after another, she’s reduced to seducing the Armenian pool boy, and the vertiginous drop in her sexual status has left her — well, the word is nuts. Unused to having men walk past her as if she were as sexless as a mailbox, Genevieve is feeling suicidal.”
The series, from “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry, centers around four maids (set to be played by Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, and Judy Reyes) who look to make their dreams come true while working for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Lucci’s character will be one of the employers.
Of course, Lucci famously played Erica Kane for the past 41 years on ABC’s now-cancelled soap “All My Children.”
