Did Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren just bully Louis C.K.?
A day after Fox’s prime time host called the comedian a “pig,” Louis C.K. bowed out of the Radio and Television Correspondents’ dinner in Washington, D.C., his spokesman told CNN on Friday.
“Another pig….and a media association has hired the pig, Louis C.K., to be their headliner for the big media dinner? Really? I am not going,” Van Susteren wrote. “I refuse to go. Everyone in the media should join me in this boycott.”
C.K. is the comedian of the moment. His FX show, “Louie,” is a critical hit while his special, “Live at the Beacon Theater,” made $1 million in less than two weeks.
But Van Susteren does not care for his treatment of women, Sarah Palin in particular. C.K. has used some distasteful language in talking about the one-time vice presidential nominee.
“It is no secret that he denigrates women,” Van Susteren, whose husband has advised Palin, wrote.
C.K. has previously defended the comments, insisting that they are just comedy.
Still, it looks like he decided this was a war he didn’t feel like waging. (His spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.)
His exit is bad luck for the clips to go viral. It also begs the question: will he joke about Van Susteren next?
