Sherri Shepherd was conspicuously absent from her seat on “The View” again Tuesday, but for fans who’ve feared the worst, think again, because you’ll be seeing more of the host than ever in a matter of weeks.

The feisty co-host, who had Mary J. Blige cover for her and Whoopi Goldberg this week, came on air today to announce that her time away from the hit daytime talk show has been well-spent practicing for her upcoming role as a contestant on the fourteenth season of “Dancing With the Stars.”

Shepherd, who appeared via satellite with “DWTS” partner Val Chmerkovskiy, talked to her co-hosts about what they can expect from the upcoming season.

“You’ve been wanting to do this, begging them to put you on for years,” said Barbara Walters. “Tell us about your wonderful partner!”

“He’s so hot, Barbara,” exclaimed an excited Shepherd.

“I think Sherri is amazing,” said Chmerkovskiy of his new partner. “I’m very lucky. I must have done something right last season. I’m very grateful, because she’s brilliant, she’s got a great character, she’s got a great work ethic.”

Excited by the pair’s cute chemistry, co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck said, “Give us a little preview of what we’re going to see,” a request the two graciously obliged. (See above.)
