Another day, another possible candidate for a judge’s position on “The X Factor.”
This time, it’s Avril Lavigne, the 27-year-old rock and fashion phenom who’s rumored to be talking to “X Factor” producers — who include Simon Cowell — about filling one of the two open positions on the show’s judging panel.
TMZ.com is reporting the story here.
The brief TMZ story points out, rightfully, that Lavigne’s personal experience as an international music star who got her start at the tender age of 15 would be a sensible choice as a judge on a show that’s all about guiding young talent toward superstardom.
In addition, she has already worked with “X Factor” judge L.A. Reid. A New York Post story on Sunday noted that Reid signed Lavigne to Arista Records in 2000 “for a deal worth $1.25 million for two albums.”
“The X Factor” is in the midst of a redo aimed at boosting its performance in the ratings when it returns for its second season next fall on Fox. The producers have two positions to fill on the judges’ panel after jettisoning Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger.
