Talk about participatory journalism!

Gung-ho Anderson Cooper bravely took a swig of “Go-Go Juice,” the controversial concoction stoked with sugar and caffeine that one mom on TLC’s “Toddlers & Tiaras” openly admits she serves to her pageant contestant daughter to keep her energized.

And how! Coop took one swallow of the liquid and declared, “Wow, it’s a lot of sugar!”

Hopefully, the drink gave Anderson the energy to continue with the activity at hand — namely, a taping of his daytime talk show “Anderson”. The show airs Friday, Feb. 17 (check local listings).

The topic: “Toddlers & Tiaras” and the measures the moms on the show will undertake to get their kiddie contestants into the winner’s circle.

Watch Anderson take a swig of Go-Go Juice here:

Among those appearing on the show are Georgia mom June Shannon and daughter Alanna (also known as “Honey Boo Boo Child”), the mother and daughter who made headlines just last week when June appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and defended the practice of serving her young daughter a drink spiked with sugar and caffeine to keep her alert for pageant competition.

In this clip from “Anderson,” June and Alanna dress up in identical pageant outfits:

Want more? In this next clip, one of the other “T&T” moms dresses as Lady Gaga, an outfit that was controversial when her young daughter wore it on the TLC show. Here, mother and daughter are both going gaga for Gaga!

But wait, there’s more. We have two more clips from Friday’s “Anderson” that you won’t want to miss. In the first one, Anderson debates the issue of dieting with his panel of pageant moms. Or, more to the point, Anderson asks: Should eight-year-old girls go on diets?

Watch the great diet debate here:

And finally, this last clip answers a question we have also pondered: What do the pageant parents of “Toddlers & Tiaras” think about their competitive counterparts on another show cut from the same cloth, “Dance Moms” on Lifetime Television? Their unanimous answer: The “Dance Moms” women are “worse.”

Here’s what they had to say about that:

Anderson Cooper’s “Toddlers & Tiara” edition of “Anderson” airs Friday. Check your local listings for time and station.
