Whitney Houston may be in the mood to dance with somebody, in this case that somebody would be Simon Cowell.
A breaking story by the Hollywood Reporter states that Houston has been approached for the judges’ table on Cowell’s “The X Factor,” where she would fill the void created after Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were fired form the show.
Houston has made headlines for her performances in movies such as “The Bodyguard” as well as her personal troubles. In fact, a story about the singer ran yesterday on OMG! reporting that she worried friends when she was seen “leaving a Los Angeles club last night looking a mess and with blood dripping down her leg.” Fortunately, she already has a relationship with Cowell that included a performance on the U.K. version of “The X Factor” in October 2009.
The report also states that Mariah Carey remains under consideration, although Cowell has vocally doubted her ability to be on the show due to her busy family life.
Beyonce was also rumored to be in the mix (for a pricetag of a cool $100 million), although Cowell quickly shot down that speculation.
Judge L.A. Reid has already been signed to return for the show’s sophomore season.
As for Houston, she is set to return to the big screen this summer in the musical “Sparkle,” where she will star with “American Idol” winner Jordin Sparks.
