If there was ever any doubt that Kris Humphries was completely blindsided when Kim Kardashian asked him for a divorce, 72 days after they got married, this story from TMZ pretty much puts those doubts to bed. Humphries and his lawyers want to have the divorce trial televised. And, boy, would that be a hoot to watch, wouldn’t it?

Why does Humphries want to expose his divorce to the public? Because he wants to show everyone that Kardashian married him for one reason: to boost ratings for “Kourtney and Kim Take New York.” He wants the trial to be broadcast not only on TV but on TMZ’s site, exposing it to as many people as possible.

Of course, the folks at TMZ doubt it’ll happen, and they’re right on the money with that. Divorce proceedings are rarely televised, and it’s likely that Kris Jenner and her daughters would never want to televise anything they don’t have explicit control of. TMZ also points out that the move could blow up in Humphries’ face, especially if he’s proven wrong.

Like we said, we’re rooting for the trial to be televised, which should give us some good entertainment now that football season is over.

“SNL” already envisioned this in a skit from last fall:
