During a recent appearance on “Inside the Actors Studio,” George Clooney said he’s been planning a retaliatory prank against Brad Pitt for the past two years. “It might end his career,” Clooney boasted to host James Lipton. “I owe him…I’m not going to tell you what it is, but just know, I got it.”
So what, exactly, does Clooney owe Pitt for? Pitt explained during a sit-down with Lipton for an episode of “Inside the Actors Studio” set to air Feb. 10. Apparently, it can all be traced back to a practical joke Pitt played on the set of one of the “Ocean’s” films. Before shooting in Italy, Brad sent a letter to the entire crew – in Italian – stating that Clooney asked that he be looked in the eye when addressed, and insisted that everyone call him “Daniel” or “Mr. Ocean” on set. The gag went on for two weeks before Clooney caught on. “He handled it gracefully,” Pitt said. “But he was becoming unnerved.”
Pitt said he knew his day of retribution would come. So he came up with another prank. “I thought about a preemtive strike,” he said. “But it was so ugly. So whatever he’s got — this is uglier. It’s so bad, I don’t even know if I can do it.” Asked Lipton, “So that’s your threat to him?” “It’s my safety,” Pitt responded. Watch Pitt explain it above.
