Following the news that Steve Jones has been booted from Fox’s “The X Factor,” E! is now reporting that Nicole Scherzinger is the next one out the door. According to the report, a source told them that Scherzinger will not be returning as judge for season two of “The X Factor.”
“She wants to focus on her music career,” the source said. “She’s spoken to Simon [Cowell] and he’s given her his blessing.”
The source went on to say that “‘X Factor’ took a lot more of her time than she ever expected. She didn’t have any time really to work on her music. She was doing ‘X Factor’ six days a week.”
The report says that although Scherzinger’s representative did not immediately comment on the ousting, but a rep for Fox confirmed the news.
Rumors swirled that Scherzinger might want out of the singing competition following a severe backlash that swelled following some of her elimination votes. The negative sentiment included death threats and some rather harsh insults.
There is no word on who will replace either Jones or Scherzinger, although early speculation since season one wrapped up, is that Mariah Carey might be targeted to fill a judge’s seat.
