The Real Housewives of Orange County (Bravo)

After six riotous seasons of the “Real Housewives of Orange County,” the blondtourage are still keeping things feisty for Season 7—and not even the multiple divorces that have plagued the show can bring these firebrands down!

Adding to the upheaval, newbie Heather Dubrow—the only brunette in the cast (blasphemy!)—will be making her mark, and needless to say, the outspoken mother of four rubs some of the ladies the wrong way…at least initially.

Heather, along with Tamra Barney and Gretchen Rossi, took time out to chat with reporters this week about what kind of drama to expect this season, who bumped heads with whom, and who kissed and made up.

Considering you’re the original Real Housewives, do you think the Beverly Hills crew or any of the other shows have stolen your thunder?
Heather: For me being new here, I think when a franchise does well, it only helps the Housewives franchise in general. I think that each city brings something different to the table.  I don’t think one’s necessarily better than the other.

Heather, which Housewife did you end up being closest to and which did you bump heads with?
Heather: I’ve become close with most of the ladies. I was pleasantly surprised how well we all got along. I had never seen the show before joining the cast, and I had heard stories about all of them but I had never met them. I would say out of everyone, Alexis and I have had some friction which I guess you’ll have to watch and see what happens. Dum, dum, dum!

Preview The New Season:

Tamra and Gretchen, what was your first impression of Heather in the beginning of the show?
Gretchen: It’s no surprise that I don’t really hold back on saying how I feel about something. But when I first met her, I actually thought she was a little pretentious, and I actually used the exact words I think she had a “stick up her a**.” But the second time I met her, literally, my words to her were I like you a lot better than the first time I met you…she really, really became a good friend of mine throughout the season.

Tamra: For me I liked Heather the minute I met her. We got along really well.  However, I was a little bit worried that she wasn’t going to fit in with the group because she was so nice, she was so classy, and she was yet so elegant. And, you know, with the girls on the show, we don’t always roll like that. I thought she would run from us. I thought she was going to run!

By the way, have you two finally made up? Dare we ask: Are you official friends now?
Tamra: There was a lot of outside influence that started off our bad friendship, and it kind of escalated. It got to the point where we were just verbally attacking each other personally for the sake of the show. It was time to build a bridge and just get over it. And, in the process of doing that, we realized we really like each other. We really, really like each other, and we get along really well. We’ve actually become extremely close through this venture.

Gretchen: Yes, for me, it was interesting because I saw myself last season on camera, and I was just a very bitter, angry, resentful person, and I just kind of woke up one day, and I just realized that’s not who I am. We ended up really becoming very good friends and really getting to know each other on a totally different level. It’s become a very authentic, true friendship, and I think it’ll be really fun for the viewers to kind of see that growth.

It looks like it’s going to be a very explosive season for Vicki since she’s still in the process of divorcing Donn. Do you think being on TV ruined their marriage? Is she in a better place now?
Tamra: Well, I don’t know if the show had anything to do with the collapse of their marriage. I know it puts strain on your relationship, there’s no doubt. But I think that they had some issues for a very long time and it was documented and they tried their hardest and it didn’t work out. I think that she’s happy now, and that’s really all that matters.

Gretchen: I think that the cameras might hone in on some of those issues that you already have, but I definitely don’t think that cameras are responsible for the breakdown of a relationship. I think that either you have a strong relationship from the get go, and you’re going to be able to get through anything and, you know the saying I always say is that the cameras don’t lie. And good on them that they tried to make it work, but at the end of the day, it didn’t work, and as Tamra said, it seems as if she’s happy this season, but at the same time, there is a lot of stuff that happens where she’s very explosive.

Should we expect to see any wine-splashing fights with Jeana Keough this season? And will any former Housewives be sneaking their way on camera again?
Tamra: It’s a drug. They can’t stay away. Jeana does come back again and her and I kind of take off where we left off. So, it’s interesting to see what happens.

Gretchen: I think Peggy is in the first couple of episodes, but Peggy is not an official Housewife this season…I think Jeana is the only one that showed up at the last party…I think that was it. And why they keep coming back, who the heck knows!

Tamra: Because they like it. Yes, Housewife likey.

Likey this: The season premiere of the “RHOOC’ airs on Bravo on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 9/8c.
