“The Office’s” longtime employee Dwight Schrute, played by Rainn Wilson, is reportedly considering a change of scenery, for real this time.
While Dwight has been talking with his bosses about a transfer away from the Scranton office on the show, Deadline.com states that there are other forces afoot. The report states that NBC is mulling an “Office” spinoff starring Rainn Wilson for a potential midseason 2013 launch. The series would focus on his life on the beet farm and bed & breakfast.
The potential spinoff will reportedly be introduced in an “Office” episode later this season that set at Schrute Farms. The article cites a source close to the show who elaborates on what the new series would be about.
“At its base it will be about a family farm struggling to survive and a family trying to stay together,” the source said.
Deadline goes on to state that no deals have been signed and that even if a spinoff does come to fruition, it won’t necessarily mean that Wilson will leave the mothership anytime soon.
At least there is always Toby to pick on…
