This May, the Aloha State and the Golden State share their law enforcement teams when Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J head to “Hawaii Five-0” and Alex O’Laughlin and Scott Caan are mainland bound on “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

“What happens is there is a case that has ties to Los Angeles and we bring in LL and Chris to Hawaii and then it expands itself when suspects takes us to Los Angeles, so we are going to be on their turf and we are going to end the story there,” explains “Hawaii Five-0″ executive producer Peter Lenkov.

“I am calling it a high-octane story,” adds “NCIS: Los Angeles” exec producer Shane Brennan. “It cranks up and it starts and it doesn’t stop on both shows.”

The case, involving a lethal virus, was crafted by writers from both shows who Pow-wowed in Hawaii to come up with the storyline. “We are going to write it, trade scripts and get notes and make the best scripts possible,” says Lenkov.

“Five-0″ fans, of course, will remember that this is not the first crossover for the two the shows. Daniela Ruah, who plays Special Agent Kensi Blye, was sent to Hawaii to help read lips when McGarrett (O’Laughlin) had a case that had a soundless video. Kensi’s skills gave them a lead to help solve the crime.

“We tested the waters this year when Daniela came to us,” Lenkov says. “We did an episode where she was in one of our scenes and it worked well

So why do it again? “For me, it makes it feel like the worlds of ‘Hawaii Five-0′ and ‘NCIS: LA’ really exist,” says the “Five-0″ EP. “The fact that they can cross over makes it feel more real.”
