Tina Fey Tells Dave: She Played Role in Alec’s Airline Meltdown

Team player Tina Fey took part of the blame for “30 Rock” co-star Alec Baldwin’s airline meltdown last month.

It was she who first introduced him to the smartphone word game, “Words with Friends,” which was apparently so addictive that Alec couldn’t stop playing it when he and other passengers on an American Airlines flight were instructed to turn off their electronic devices to prepare for takeoff. Baldwin, 53, refused and was thrown off the flight.

Fey disclosed Thursday night on CBS’s “Late Show with David Letterman” that she’s the one who innocently alerted Baldwin to the game seven months earlier. “When I heard that news story [about the airline meltdown], my first reaction [was] that I was upset [because] last spring, like seven months ago, I said to him, ‘Hey, there’s this really fun game called ‘Words with Friends’ and it’s a lot like Scrabble, but it’s a little different. You should get it!’”

Meanwhile, just for fun, Tina also “vandalized” Dave’s car last night as she left the Ed Sullivan Theater. Unfortunately for her, it was all caught on tape!

Tina was on “Late Show” to promote the season premiere of “30 Rock” next Thursday (Jan. 12) at 8/7c on NBC.
