“The Voice” has recruited eight new musical mentors to assist and advise resident coaches Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, and Cee Lo Green in the Battle Rounds of the hit reality show’s upcoming second season.
One name we were surprised to come across on the list? “American Idol” alum Kelly Clarkson, who will be helping out on Team Blake along with Shelton’s wife, country singer Miranda Lambert.
Here’s the full team breakdown:
Team Adam: Alanis Morissette and Robin Thicke
Team Blake: Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert
Team Cee Lo: Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Ne-Yo
Team Christina: Jewel and Lionel Richie
“These renowned musicians will bring their unique and recognizable musical styles to the teams,” NBC’s President of Late Night and Alternative Programming Paul Telegdy said in a statement. “They are well-respected singers whose invaluable experience will be a tremendous asset to Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton’s artists.”
Like last season, the Battle Rounds will feature two artists from each team going head to head during a duet performance. At the end of each battle round, the artists’ respective coach will decide who from their team will advance to the live shows, and who will exit the competition.
“The Voice” premieres on a special night and time, Sunday, February 5, (10-11 p.m. ET; time approximate) following Super Bowl XLVI on NBC before returning to its regular time slot of Mondays (8-10 p.m. ET) beginning Monday, February 6.
