Former “The Big Valley” star Lee Majors rides to the rescue when “CSI: NY” needs help in solving a cold case.

Majors, best known to fans as Steve Austin on “The Six Million Dollar Man” and Colt Seavers on “The Fall Guy,” has been signed to a guest-starring role on the CBS procedural drama, TVGuide.com reports.

According to the website, the veteran actor will play an NYPD detective who was the lead on a case in 1957 that was never solved. Somehow Mac (Gary Sinise) makes the connection to a current case and calls on Burton to help close it.

Majors will also be riding the range again when he stars in a movie version of “The Big Valley,” set for release this year. Instead of reprising the role of Heath Barkley, which he originated and is played in the film by Travis Fimmel, he will be playing Heath’s father Tom Barkley. “The Big Valley” also stars Jessica Lange and Sara Paxton.
