Say what you will about the first season of “The Killing” (we have a lot to say, and not all of it is kind), but the show did give viewers a reason to tune into its second season: We don’t know who killed Rosie Larsen yet. Now, we have another good reason to tune in, as Mark Moses has been cast as a detective joining in the hunt for Rosie’s killer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The “Mad Men” (remember the drunken and jealous Duck Phillips?) and “Desperate Housewives” star will play a new-to-Seattle detective named Lt. Carlson, who TV Guide describes as more of a paper pusher than an in-the-streets cop. The arc Moses is signed for will last at least eight episodes.

Of course, we found out at the end of last season that things in the investigation aren’t all that they seemed to be, with creepy detective Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman) being shown being a party to evidence planting, which led his partner Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) to bring in councilman Darren Richmond (Billy Campbell) for the murder. We all know what happened to Darren at the end of the finale. So for all we know, Lt. Carlson might be a big part of this scandal. Then again, he may lead Linden to the real killer. Either way, color us intrigued.
