Lisa Rinna will once again play Billie Reed on “Days of Our Lives.” The news, originally reported by a Huffington Post blogger in October, has been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. Rinna has signed a longterm contract with the show. She will first appear in the March 8th episode. The show is not releasing details of Billie’s storyline, but she will reportedly have “explosive” scenes with her ex-husband Bo (Peter Reckell) as well as reconnecting with her family. Billie’s brother Austin (Patrick Muldoon) recently returned to the show. Her other brother Lucas (Bryan Datillo) is slated to return in February. DOOL is in the midst of a “reboot” to improve its ratings. Several of its biggest stars including Drake Hogestyn and Deidre Hall have come back to the show.
After Rinna left the show in 1995, Billie was played by two other actresses, Krista Allen and Julie Pinson, continuing the Hope/Bo/Billie triangle. Rinna briefly returned to the show in 2002. In recent years, Rinna has become known as a reality television star, appearing on “Dancing With the Stars,” “Celebrity Apprentice” and “Harry Loves Lisa.” She also was a co-host on SOAPNet’s talk show “Soap Talk.”
Rinna told the Reporter, “I am so thrilled to be back and excited to be acting again. I have done reality shows, talk shows and I thought, what a great way to come back and play a character that I love to play so much. Feels very full circle — like a new old chapter.”
