In a shocking twist on last night’s “America’s Next Top Model,” the judging for the first winner of an All-Star competition was filmed in Los Angeles, not in Greece, where the finale actually took place. At that time, noted fashion photographer and judge Nigel Barker announced to the rest of the panel that Angelea Preston had been disqualified.
Barker explained it was a result of conversations that Angelea had had with the producers and production staff that made them question her eligibility, but this morning the Twitter-verse is abuzz with rumors that Angelea had actually won “America’s Next Top Model: All Stars,” but she couldn’t keep the secret and posted it on her Facebook page. If true, it would have been a violation of her contract with the series and would have resulted in her having to give up her title, which includes among other prizes a $100,000 CoverGirl® contract.
Here is what The CW, the network for the reality competition, had to say: “After production wrapped on the current cycle of ‘America’s Next Top Model,’ we learned information that made Angelea ineligible and she was subsequently disqualified from the competition. As a result, new scenes were filmed to address this for the audience during the finale.”
This morning, Angelea tweeted: “OMG!!!! IM TRENDING WORLDWIDE on twitter right now!!!!!!!!!! Wowwwww!! That’s the whole world!! Lol! #humbled!! Thanks y’all!!! #LOVE”
Angelea’s elimination narrowed the competition down to Lisa D’Amato and Allison Harvard. In the new judging, Tyra Banks, Barker, Jay Manuel and Andre Leon Talley debated and then handed the All-Star crown to Lisa.
Later today, we will be talking with Lisa D’Amato so check back tomorrow to see what she has to say about the controversy and her plans going forward.
