Add Alec Baldwin to the Celebrity No-Fly List. At least, if the chatter on Twitter is to be believed.

Tweet Nation was abuzz Tuesday afternoon with news that the “30 Rock” actor was removed from an American Airlines flight, causing a delay for the other passengers.

The scuttlebutt began with a Tweet from Michael J. Wolf, who noted, “On an AA flight at LAX. Alec Baldwin removed from the plane We had to go back to the gate. Terrible that everyone had to wait.”

Before long the Twitter community was practically vibrating with speculation. What could the beloved, if opinionated, funny man have done to earn the bum’s rush?

It seems that Baldwin might have been a rude, thoughtless little passenger — or at least couldn’t stop playing a certain Zynga app, despite being implored to turn off all electronic devices.

“Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving,” Baldwin tweeted shortly after the alleged incident.

The actor ended the missive with a dig at the airline’s financial woes, adding the hashtag, “#nowonderamericaairisbankrupt”

A subsequent tweet offered a plug to a rival airline, noting, “#theresalwaysunited.”

And, finally, “But, oddly, 30 Rock plays inflight on American.”

Baldwin’s spokesperson confirmed the incident to TheWrap, noting in a statement — and blatant plug for the game — that Baldwin managed to become airborne despite the incident.

“Alec was asked to leave a flight for playing ‘Words with Friends’ while parked at the gate,” the statement reads. “He loves WWF so much that he was willing to leave a plane for it, but he has already boarded another AA flight.”

Reacting to the growing story, American reached out across the Twitterverse to Baldwin to let him know they are on the case, and that they would appreciate his assistance in resolving the matter.

“@AlecBaldwin Mr. Baldwin, we are looking into this. Please DM us contact information,” the airline tweeted.

Baldwin joins a growing list of celebrities who’ve been removed from flights for a variety of reasons, including Billie Joe Armstrong, Josh Duhamel, Kevin Smith and, most recently Big & Rich singer John Rich.
