Move over “Top Model,” there’s some competition in the air with E!’s “Scouted,” a new modeling docu-series premiering Monday night at 10/9c.

But unlike “America’s Next Top Model” on CW — which takes pre-chosen finalists, throws them into a swanky pad in hopes of creating drama, and forces them to perform unrealistic “modeling” challenges (hamster ball, anyone?) — “Scouted” offers a much more realistic approach to the process by which models are discovered and (hopefully) become potential stars.

The show follows the personal lives of young men and women, from the moment they’re spotted by local modeling scouts to their exciting journey to New York in hopes of getting signed by One Management, a renowned modeling agency currently representing Claudia Schiffer, Bar Refaeli, Iman, Bridget Hall and Devon Aoki.

One Management’s evaluating team, which consists of creative director Michael Flutie, model mentor Beri Smither, stylist Dani Stahl, and casting director Julia Samersova, puts promising models through a series of two-day off- and on-camera evaluations to determine whether they have the “supermodel” factor. It’s within these whirlwind 48 hours that some modelinas will have their dreams dashed, while others await a surreal future.

If you’ve been really itching to see how a model explodes onto the scene without the hype, “Scouted” has your winning shot.

The season premiere of “Scouted” airs Monday at 10 p.m./9c on E!.
