Scotty McCreery probably wishes he could lock the doors and turn the lights down low after flubbing his lines during Thursday’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The “American Idol” champ missed his cue for the opening of “The Trouble With Girls,” which resulted in an awkward reveal that he was lip syncing the tune. Publicly, McCreery seemed to ignore the mistake, tweeting later in the day, “just got done w/ the parade! now on the way to Atlanta! …¬†looking forward to a big thanksgiving dinner at 9 w/ the family at ahotel in Atlanta! different than most years, but thankful were together!”

In related news, “Idol” runner-up Lauren Alaina also faced embarrassment Thursday as she botched the “Star-Spangled Banner” before the Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers Game. Alaina began on the right note, but soon lost her footing and stopped halfway through the word “twilight.” She picked the song up again, but not after a few seconds of silence and some audible heckling from the crowd. Unlike McCreery, Alaina acknowledged the gafffe online, tweeting,¬† “Thank you everyone for the kind words. But the truth is I messed up. I’m gonna spend the rest of the day being thankful for all my blessings.”
