UPDATE: Mike Rowe stopped laughing long enough to respond to TMZ’s story, telling the website that “I’ve wanted to sue myself for years now,” and that he’s prepping a suit against his parents, because they were the ones who gave him the name. We knew Rowe would have a pretty good sense of humor over this.

If a new lawsuit is to be believed, a more harrowing fate than being in prison is having same name as “Dirty Jobs” host Mike Rowe. According to TMZ, a South Dakota inmate named Mike Rowe is suing the reality-show host, claiming that “Dirty Jobs” Rowe is committing copyright infringement by doing something horrifying: Using his own name on the show.

You see, convict Rowe copyrighted the name “Mike Rowe” earlier this year — perhaps so he could release a line of Mike Rowe soap figurines — and wants reality Rowe to stop using the name. But that’s not all. The inmate, which TMZ found out is in prison for a DUI-related offense, claims in the suit that having the same name as the host has been humiliating; he has to “live” with being called “Dirty Jobs” every day, causing him undue emotional stress.

We can think of one or two other names that you could be called in prison that would be worse, but they’re unprintable here. Anyway, TMZ couldn’t get any comment from reality Rowe on the matter, probably because he was laughing too hard to answer his phone.
