Modern Family” actor Eric Stonestreet hit the set of “The View” on Thursday, where he expressed gratitude to the hostesses for helping him meet his girlfriend.

He said that after playing gay character Cameron Tucker on the series, he had become used to audiences confusing that role with his real life sexual orientation, which is straight and had led to him missing out on potential dates. That, however, changed after his previous appearance on the show.

“When I met her she was doing a show on Broadway called ‘Rock of Ages,’” he told them. “I kind of always felt like I had to dig myself out of a bit of a hole, and tell girls know that I’m actually straight. But she was like, “Oh, I was watching ‘The View’ and saw that you weren’t gay!’ And we’re still together.”
