If people had any inkling that reality shows might not be so real, this story should give them some evidence, if it’s true: Ryan Seacrest and Bravo are being sued by a woman who claims she was “blindsided” and humiliated while filming a scene for the upcoming reality show “Shahs of Sunset,” which Seacrest produces.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the woman, Kathy Salem, is suing to prevent Bravo from showing her on the series. Her contention is that, while she did sign a release before she entered a party that was being filmed for the show — which THR describes as a “Persian ‘Jersey Shore’” — the release didn’t give them the right to be filmed having her top nearly torn off and water thrown in her face. Her claim is that the producers were making her look like the bad guy in the scene, and she walked in to find that she was in the middle of a “bullying session” that no one told her about. She’s seeking at least $100,000 along with the injunction.

Of course, the complaint only shows one side of the story; for all we know, she’s not as innocent in this as she claims, or the release may put Bravo and Seacrest on solid legal footing. But it does point out that people can get unwittingly drawn into these shows’ attempts to manufacture drama, and maybe people should think twice before singing that release as they walk into situations where there could be cameras.
