Herman Cain evidently believes he’ll weather the current firestorm threatening his presidential campaign at least long enough to appear on David Letterman’s “Late Show” a week from Friday.
Cain might also still be basking in the afterglow of his charismatic appearance Monday night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and figuring that late-night TV is where he ought to be to win new fans and potential voters.
Whatever the case, the man who film buffs have nicknamed “Citizen Cain” (OK, we nicknamed him that) has been booked to appear on Letterman’s “Late Show” on Friday, Nov. 18, CBS announced Wednesday.
The combative candidate has shown so much resilience in the face of the sexual harassment charges that have been leveled at him by at least four women that we expect he’ll still be in the running for the Republican nomination by the end of next week.
The “Late Show” guest shot will represent Cain’s first-ever appearance on Letterman’s show, and only his second appearance on a late-night show — so far.
