With Regis Philbin walking away from his talk show later this month, producers are bringing out the big guns for guest co-hosts to fill his seat until a permanent replacement is named.

ABC announced Tuesday who the first sub will be for the newly abbreviated “Live! with Kelly“: comedian Jerry Seinfeld.

So, you can pretty much guarantee this one won’t be the replacement, but I’m sure he’ll get the guest host musical chairs off to a riotous start.

“Jerry is a great friend of ours, and a friend of Kelly’s, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s an entertainment icon,” said executive producer Michael Gelman. “It’s a great way to kick off the new beginning of our show.”

Seinfeld is on board for a three-day stint to air on November 21, 22 and 23. The scheduled guests for those episodes include Jason Segal (“How I Met Your Mother”), “Sex and the City” star Kim Cattrall, comedian Howie Mandel, “Naked Chef” Jamie Oliver and the fabulous Miss Piggy.

Producers have said they plan to have fill-in guest hosts and try a lot of different people out for the gig to see the chemistry with Kelly Ripa before making any final decisions, so don’t expect to hear the official word for a while yet.

The Reege is outta there on Friday, November 18.
