The season premiere of “Chuck” took a beating from baseball, but the news wasn’t so grim for NBC’s “Grimm.”

“Chuck” took it on the chin at 8/7c Friday night — drawing just 3.387 million for the first episode of its fourth and final season on NBC. At 9/8c, the premiere of NBC’s new horror series “Grimm” just about doubled the “Chuck” audience. “Grimm” averaged 6.486 million viewers for its first episode, according to the Nielsen overnights.

That wasn’t a bad number for “Grimm,” when you consider that Game 7 of the World Series on Fox drew 23.681 million viewers during that hour. Premiering just in time for Halloween weekend, “Grimm” is NBC’s reworked, contemporary update of the old Grimm fairytales.

For the three hours of prime time — 8-11/7-10c — the ball game averaged 23.247 million, dominating everything else on TV Friday night.
