Since his mother died, Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum) had lost his zest for life. But now, because of an online dating site, his interest in life — and in love — has been rejuvenated and it is all thanks to the lovely Dr. Mary Courtney (guest star Cheryl Ladd).
On Tuesday’s episode of “NCIS,” the team – Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), Ziva (Cote de Pablo), Abby (Pauley Perrette) and McGee (Sean Murray) – notice the difference in the doctor and they are gossiping about his love life when he catches them.
He chides them, but then admits, “I was dubious at first, but several lunches…”
So smitten is Ducky with Mary that he does the unthinkable and sneaks out during an autopsy to meet her and has a chance encounter with Gibbs (Mark Harmon). Ducky introduces the two and explains that Mary is all about social work.
Despite one of the most compelling cases he has seen in a while, Ducky’s thoughts are on the dinner he will share that night with the lovely Mary, who is making her world-famous paella for dinner.
That night, he tells her about the case in which a man died of water intoxication, which happens when the brain cells can’t keep up with the amount of water the body is taking in. The victim died because his brain cells lost the ability to absorb water and he drowned in his own skin. Ducky admits a perverse fascination with the killer’s ingenuity.
The next morning, he is worried that he may have shared too much and been too complimentary about the killer to Mary, saying, “If you want to keep your home a happy place, keep the gore away from it.”
But before he has too much time to fret, things heat up when the body of a second victim of over-hydration is found and the NCIS team fears there may be a serial killer on the loose.
Finally, the team makes the connection that breaks the case wide open. So who is the psychotic killer? Check out the video to see the shocking conclusion!
