The always-lovely Salma Hayek stopped by “Late Show With David Letterman” last night to promote her role in the “Shrek” spin-off movie “Puss in Boots,” and, while distracted with amazement at the fact that she’s 45 and looks better than ever,¬†we did somehow manage to hear her talk about why she hurts her right ankle all the time. We think it was the part about playing a prostitute in a French film, but we digress…

Anyway, Hayek told Dave that she hurt the ligaments in her ankle as she was running out of the shower in order to catch the World Cup final between Spain and The Netherlands, and she never got it properly treated, so every six months or so, she injures the ankle again. Which is a shame, she says, because she wears heels all the time. “You have never been a Mexican short woman,” she tells Dave. “This is tragic!” Dave’s response was typical Dave: “Not that you know…”

“I often say, had it not been for the high heels, I’d still be in [my hometown of] Coatzacoalcos with ten kids and this big,” she said, holding her arms out wide. See what else she talked about with Dave below:
