Those rumors that “All My Children” star Susan Lucci was going to join the cast of “Desperate Housewives” were just a little bit off. The queen of daytime is actually slated to appear on Lifetime’s hit series “Army Wives.”

According to TVLine, Lucci will appear on at least two episodes of the show’s sixth season. Lucci will play the Army equivalent of Erica Kane — a general’s wife. The storyline will reunite her with her former co-star Kim Delaney. Back in the 1980s, Erica was a mentor to Delaney’s character, Jenny, when she launched a modeling carer. This time around she will be advising Delaney’s character, Claudia on how to deal with what is described as a “potential rival” who will be played by Kelli Williams (“Lie to Me,” “The Practice“). It sounds like Williams will be attempting to dethrone Claudia as the army base’s queen bee.

Lucci and Delaney recently reunited on an episode of “The View” that celebrated “All My Children’s” 42 years on ABC. There is still no word on whether Lucci will join the online version of AMC that is scheduled to debut in January 2012, or whether her role on “Army Wives”, which tapes in South Carolina, would make it difficult for her to do double duty with the Los Angeles-based soap.
