‘SNL’ Recap: Anna Faris Hosted, with Help from Drake

“Saturday Night Live” spoofed the frequency of the GOP debates, Lifetime Television’s endless focus on kids and moms in trouble, and other topics with the help of guest-host Anna Faris and musical guest Drake.
In fact, Drake proved to be a great sport by participating in a talk-show spoof in which he gamely played the talk-show guest or, more to the point, the victim, of the spoof’s manic host, Andy Samberg.
We really liked the Lifetime sketch, which was styled as a game show (“hosted” by Bill Hader) that spoofed Lifetime’s iconic made-for-TV movies about moms and their troubled teen daughters. On “SNL,” the game show was called “What’s Wrong with Tanya?” and it had moms from Lifetime movies trying to guess what was ailing a succession of sullen teens.
Other highlights of Saturday’s show included: An opening that focused on the ongoing nuisance of the Occupy Wall Street protests in Lower Manhattan; a Drake duet with Nikki Minaj; the aforementioned GOP debate spoof; and, of course, Ye Olde Weekend Update.
