Two TV titans who broke the laws of television in the ’90s are reuniting for a new series at NBC, TV Guide reports.

“NYPD Blue” producers Steven Bochco and David Milch are joining forces for a legal drama to be set in D.C. that follows the exploits of a “rainmaker lawyer” with a dark secret.

“This is a series about how we negotiate with our demons and the price we pay for those alliances,” the studio tells TV Guide.

The project comes from Imagine TV and 20th Century Fox TV

Bochco and Milch would executive produce along with Francie Calfo and Brian Grazer, who originated the idea for the show.

Milch and Bochco co-created “NYPD Blue” at ABC over 20 years ago, a landmark show, for the time, with its edgy content. The also worked together before that on “Bay City Blues” and “Hill Street Blues” in the ’80s.

Milch is also producing the HBO-Dustin Hoffman horse-racing drama “Luck,” which premieres in January 2012.
