An “SNL” legend could be returning to his old stomping grounds.
The New York Post is reporting that Eddie Murphy may make a surprise appearance on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, when his “Tower Heist” costar Ben Stiller hosts the show.
Murphy’s appearance would be the first time the comedian has been back on the show since leaving “SNL” in 1984. There has been some bad blood between Murphy and creator Lorne Michaels, but maybe that’s cooled off in the 27 years that’s passed.
It would be a good warm-up for Murphy to crack some jokes live, since he’s signed on to host this year’s Academy Awards. Besides, what “SNL” fan wouldn’t love to revisit “Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood” or see our old friends Gumby and Buckwheat again???
That’s the good “SNL” news.
The bad “SNL” news is this: Reigning “SNL” queen Kristen Wiig may be leaving the show after this season, according to Showbiz 411.
The comedian, who’s becoming a hot commodity in movieland thanks to hits like this summer’s “Bridesmaids,” may be looking to graduate from the sketch show after this season, now that her film career is taking off.
