The Talk” turned into a tear-fest on Friday during a discussion about marriage. Following an opening segment about women in their 50s getting pregnant, the show’s hard-driving mother hen, Julie Chen asked, “Is marriage all its cracked up to be?” The impetus behind the question, she explained, was guest-host Kris Jenner‘s revelation that she wanted daughter Kourtney to marry her baby’s daddy, Scott Disick.”I have such a fantasy that she’ll have the same kind of life I had,” said Jenner. “I think making that commitment to somebody very strong.” Jenner then talked about her own marriages, her 20-year relationship with Olympic gold medal winner Bruce Jenner and her 13-year first marriage to O.J. Simpson attorney Robert Kardashian, who died of cancer in 2003. She teared up while looking at a photograph of Kardashian, though she failed to mention they had divorced in 1990. But hey, she didn’t supply the real waterworks. That distinction went to “The Talk” co-creator Sara Gilbert, who crumbled under the weight of emotion and heartache as she listened to others around the table talk about their marriages. “I’ve never been married, but I was in a long relationship,” she said in a seemingly genuine moment of self-reflection and sadness. “It’s emotional for me, because we’re not together.” Gilbert recently ended a 10-year partnership with Allison Adler; they have two children together. “I wouldn’t trade that time, it’s such a special time in my life. But then you see people in their 70s and you go like how do people do it?” Watch the drama unfold in the video below:
