Charlie Sheen wants you to believe his backstage encounter with his “Two and a Half Men” replacement Ashton Kutcher was a brofest. And maybe it was. He tweeted the above photo and wrote, “Giving the new kid a little advice.” Later, he added, Seriously, great talking to you. We’ll all be watching. Make us proud.” Kutcher, whose “Two and a Half Men” debuts Monday, September 19 (set your DVR here), tweeted back, “Charlie, you were so gracious.” Indeed, he was – and that’s a change from earlier in the year when he was fired from “Two and a Half Men” and blasted his colleagues, calling co-star Jon Cryer a “troll” and executive producer Chuck Lorre a “maggot.” On Sunday night’s Emmy Awards, where he presented the Best Actor in a Comedy Series (“my old category,” he quipped), Sheen was soft-spoken, contrite and decidedly sober as he wished his former series “nothing but the best for this upcoming season.” His appearance can – and should – be seen as part of a careful re-entry into Hollywood’s good graces. Sheen’s Comedy Central roast, which airs Monday opposite his old series, is also designed to show he can laugh at himself. Will it work? Time will tell.
