It was a crying shame!

The teen band POPLYFE saw its hope of winning the $1 million prize get pretty much crushed Tuesday night when lead singer Kehlani Parrish broke down and started crying during their live finale performance on “America’s Got Talent.”

The group – which features members from 12 to 16 years old – was performing “We Will Rock You”/”We Are The Champions” by Queen when the high school junior lost control of the pitch in her voice.

“It was a horrible song choice,” judge Piers Morgan said backstage after the show.  “Very few people have Freddie Mercury’s voice.  Very few people can pull that off.”

Midway through the performance, Parrish learned that lesson the hard way. She lost control of her pitch and never quite got back on track.

“I just want people to understand that we have worked so hard,” she pleaded.  ”The lyrics of the song say we can prevail through anything and we have been through so much.  We can come out on top.  And we just hope that people understand we really want this.”

POPLYFE were one of four acts competing Tuesday for the title of “Best New Act In America.”

The competition was fierce, with many believing either light-up dance troupe Team illuminate or Sinatra sound-alike Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. will come out on top.

The grand-prize winner will be announced in a live two-hour finale special tonight at 8/7c.

“We got a lot of cyber hating going on right now, but we also got our real fans that have stuck with us from day one,” Poplyfe’s Dylan Wiggins tells us.

“There’s gonna be haters no matter what you do,” Parrish adds.  “People are gonna talk about you til the day you die.  But it doesn’t matter because we’ve got each other.  We felt like we had a strong performance. So I feel pretty good.”
