This fall, bunny worlds will collide.
You knew this marketing ploy was coming: Laura Benanti, one of the star’s of the upcoming 1960s-set series “The Playboy Club,” announced in July she’ll be on the cover of October’s Playboy magazine, and the issue is finally here. Even sexier, it’s at a super-sixties special price of just 60 cents an issue – the newsstand price of the magazine in 1961.
Benanti, 32, plays Carol Lynne, one of the veteran bunnies at the original playboy club in Chicago in NBC’s take on a throwback series a la “Mad Men.” “So excited to shoot the October cover of @playboy for @NBCPlayboyClub! Carol Lynne is coming to a news stand near you,” the actress tweeted.
The cross-promotional stunt features a retro-styled issue that includes a non-naked pictorial of Benanti, as well as stories on the original Playboy Bunnies and the Playboy Club from back in the day.
“The Playboy Club” debuts Monday, Sept. 19 at 10/9c on NBC.
