It wasn’t exactly a happy family reunion, or a happy ending, on the OWN series “Ryan & Tatum: The O’Neals.”

Ryan O’Neal has admitted that his “reconciliation” with estranged daughter Tatum for their reality show on Oprah’s OWN Network was faked for television. What’s more, the elder O’Neal is blaming Oprah Winfrey for the fact that his relationship with his daughter is now worse than ever.

“We only reconciled on the show, not in life … we don’t speak,” O’Neal told TV Guide Magazine. “In fact, we’re further apart now than we were when we started the show. So thanks, Oprah, for all your help.”

The purpose of the docu-series was to follow troubled Tatum moving home to Los Angeles to reconcile with her dear old dad after living separate lives for more than 25 years. Battling a longtime addiction, Tatum alleged that abuse from her father led to her drug use.

A reality show that cooked up a storyline just for the cameras? Unheard of!
