A glow in the dark dance troupe and a teen rock band from Oakland have emerged as frontrunners as Season 6 of “America’s Got Talent” inches closer to crowning a new champion.
Team ILuminate — which judge Piers Morgan called “possibly the best audition we have ever seen on this show” — and POPLYFE — a group Sharon Osbourne said could be “a winner” — were among the first five acts voted into the Top 10 on Wednesday night’s results show.
“I think America got it right…but then America always gets it right,” judge Howie Mandel declared moments after the live telecast.
Also earning America’s votes: the dance troupe Miami All-Stars, opera sensation Lys Agnes and You Tube favorite West Springfield Dance.

Not making the cut: Houston college student (and Lady Gaga superfan) Daniel Joseph Baker – who many expected to reach the finals.
“When you take into consideration what the Springfield Dance Team has brought, with no time to prepare, I thought they really stepped it up,” judge Howie Mandel told us immediately following the broadcast.
West Springfield Dance -– comprised of more than a dozen high schoolers –- performs group dance routines in full costume with a horror/Halloween theme.
“There is a trend now with that kind of ghoulish, vampirish kind of dancing. They are going to own it. I think what they do kind of trumps being able to (sing) a hit song.”
Next week, five more acts will advance to the Top 10. The grand prize winner will be selected in September.
NBC has confirmed that opera sensation Jackie Evancho — last year’s runner-up and one of the show’s most popular contestants ever -– will return to perform “Nessun Dorma” during the live two-hour finale. Other upcoming guest performers include Susan Boyle, Tony Bennett with Queen Latifah, Def Leppard and Cirque du Soleil “Iris.”
Season 5 winner Michael Grimm will appear on the show on Tuesday, September 6.
