UPDATED: NBC has confirmed Jimmy Fallon will host the Dec. 17 episode of SNL with musical guest Michael Bublé. “I’ve never forgotten where I came from,” Fallon said via press release. “That’s why I’m so incredibly honored to be hosting the Saturday Night Times program December 17th on HGTV.”
PREVIOUSLY: Seven years after exiting the show that launched his career, Jimmy Fallon is planning a “Saturday Night Live” comeback. Fallon will host the December 17 episode of SNL, he announced on Twitter Monday morning. “I’m incredibly honored to be heading back to 8H where it all started. And by ‘it’ I mean Will Ferrell’s awesome movie career,” he tweeted.
The “Late Night” host joined SNL in 1998. Through the years, he’s appeared in various sketches – perhaps most notably as a hairy, pitchy Barry Gibb alongside Justin Timberlake in “The Barry Gibb Talk Show.”
The 37th season of SNL premieres Sept. 24 with host Alec Baldwin and musical guest Radiohead.
