Abercrombie & Fitch has a new situation on its hands.
Just days after the company offered to pay Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and fellow “Jersey Shore” castmates not to wear the trendy company’s clothes, Conan O’Brien says he wants the same deal.
So he’s threatening to have his pudgy, affable sidekick — Andy Richter — wear A&F gear everyday until the hip haberdasher pays Conan $1 million. For the scheme to work, Conan is counting on A&F reacting with the same revulsion the company felt at the sight of the “Jersey Shore”-ites wearing their clothes when they get a look at how the brand looks when its draped all over Richter’s rounded frame.
In complaining about The Sitch, the Fitch said Sorrentino’s adoption of its clothes was detrimental to the brand. “I was thinking about it,” Conan said on his TBS show “Conan” Thursday night. “It sounds like a pretty sweet arrangement [getting paid not wear a company's clothes]. I want in on it! So listen up, Ambercrombie & Fitch, I’m talking to you! Andy Richter is going to wear your clothing on the air every night until you pay us $1 million!
With that, Richter tore off his suit to reveal an outfit consisting of a baggy A&F wife-beater T, loose-fitting cargo shorts and an A&F baseball cap worn slightly askew. Take that, A&F!
Will Richter really wear A&F gear everyday until the company pays off,or at least reacts in some way (maybe there oughta be restraining orders for such things)? With no “Conan” show Friday night, we’ll have to wait until the next show. “Conan” airs weeknights at 11/10c on TBS.
