Almost two weeks after the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the “CSI:NY” Season 8 premiere will kick off with a tribute to the World Trade Center attacks.

According to the New York Post, the episode will finally reveal the specifics of what happened to Det. Mac Taylor’s (Gary Sinise) wife Claire during the attacks. Apart from the fact that her body was never found in the debris of the twin towers, the details of what happened to her that day have largely remained a mystery.

The story will be told via flashbacks, documenting where Claire (Jaime Ray Newman) and the other CSIs were when the towers fell.

Although the crime procedural is normally filmed in Los Angeles, two special scenes are reportedly being shot at the Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance on Monday.

Adding extra potency to the episode are writer Zachary Reiter, a former Queens assistant district attorney who worked with homicide investigations and supervising producer John Dove, a former NYPD lieutenant who was a 9/11 first responder.

The “CSI: NY” Season 8 premiere will air Sept. 23 at 10/9c on CBS.
