Movie and TV funnyman Martin Lawrence might soon return to TV, depending on the outcome of negotiations now underway with CBS, according to New York magazine’s “Vulture” Web site.

Lawrence, 46, who went on to big-screen fame after starring in the Fox sitcom “Martin,” would once again headline his own comedy series if he and CBS can make a deal, says the story, which you can read here.

Details, such as the sitcom’s premise and other elements, were apparently unavailable.

Since “Martin” ended in 1997, Lawrence has starred in a steady string of hit movies, including the “Bad Boys” films with Will Smith, the hilarious prison comedy “Life” with Eddie Murphy, and the unforgettable “Big Momma” franchise in which he played the title role.

Our take: It’ll certainly be a drag if Martin refrains from appearing in drag in this new CBS sitcom — if it becomes a reality, of course.
