Sarah Michelle Gellar,“All My Children’s” original Kendall, whose new series “Ringer” will premiere on the CW September 12th, will make an appearance on the soap before the show’s ABC finale on September 23rd. The actress announced that she will join the parade of AMC alumni making a return pilgrimage to Pine Valley at the Television Critics Association panel for “Ringer.”
Gellar, who won a Daytime Emmy for her work on AMC before she was cast as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” told the assembled journalists, “I can today officially confirm that I will be doing a guest spot on ‘All My Children.’ When I heard that the show was canceled, I didn’t understand. It just didn’t make sense to me. I called Judy Blye Wilson, the casting director, who has been since I was there, and said I want to do something. I don’t want to be Kendall. That’s Alicia [Minshew's] role. But I just wanted to be a part of it. I have no idea what I’m going to be doing. But I will be doing one day.”
A few minutes later, when a journalist compared “Ringer’s” relatively realistic portrayal of identical twins to the campy way daytime soaps often treat double roles, Gellar gave AMC some more love, citing David Canary‘s performance as identical twins Adam and Stuart as believable and naturalistic.
