UPDATED: Anderson Cooper thinks Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are ridiculous. The fun-loving CNN newsman made them the subject of his “Ridiculist” segment Wednesday on his show, “AC 360.” “If you don’t know who they are, first of all, congratulations,” he said, opening the anti-Speidi segment. He then criticized their MTV series, “The Hills,” calling it a “really long lipgloss commercial.” The Hollywood Reporter has the video of the segment here.
PREVIOUSLY: Reality has caught up with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt: They now say they’re broke and she regrets her many plastic surgeries.
The couple — known in the tabloid press as “Speidi,” who became reality stars on “The Hills” on MTV – told The Daily Beast in a sitdown interview that they learned the hard way that fame is fleeting.
“Obviously I wish I didn’t do it,” Heidi says in the interview. “I would go back and not have any surgery. It doesn’t help. I got too caught up in Hollywood, being so into myself and my image. I don’t regret anything, but if I could go back, I wouldn’t do it.”
“I made a lot of wrong decisions too quickly,” she says now. “So many wrong rights and lefts and then you’re just off the road. Things happened so quickly.”
“What we learned is: You can be too famous,” added Pratt. He said they made money, but spent it as soon as they earned it. “We never had any!” he said. “I probably spent a million dollars on suits and fancy clothes. My whole million-dollar wardrobe – I would never wear that again. They’re props. Everything we were doing, we were buying props. I bought a big blue monster truck just to drive it on ‘The Hills’ for an episode. Never drove it again.”
The two are now living rent-free in a home owned by Pratt’s parents.
