There’s no mistake here. “Switched At Birth” is a hit. ABC Family ordered 22 new episodes of the series about two teenaged girls who learn to live together after discovering they were accidentally switched at birth in the hospital. The fresh premise and lively performances from Katie Leclerc, Vanessa Marano, Lea Thompson, D.W. Moffett, and Marlee Matlin drew 3.3 million total viewers last June when the show premiered, making it the network’s most-watched new series debut ever. “Viewers have fallen in love with this show, just as we did when we first saw it,” ABC Family president Michael Riley said in a statement. “We set out this year to bring viewers more original content than ever before, all with the trademarks of our bright, authentic, quality storytelling. We’re so thrilled to see this series become a break-out hit this summer and become a key component of our programming lineup into next year.” “Switched At Birth,” whose cast received numerous Teen Choice Awards nominations, airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. Click here to record the series from xfinityTV.com.
