Beginning October 10 on OWN, library episodes of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” will be repacked and aired as a teaching tool under the new title “Own Your Life (The Oprah Class).”

“We had originally thought of putting the ‘Oprah Winfrey Show’ on in such a way as some of the best shows – just as encore performances,” OWN CEO Oprah Winfrey said Friday at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Beverly Hills. But then one day, standing at her kitchen window, she had a revelation about the direction she wanted to take. “Years ago there was a story in USA Today talking about ‘The World’s Biggest Classroom’ -  when we had Eckhart Tolle on,” she recalled. “That’s one of the few articles I’ve saved. I put it on my vision board because I wanted to embrace the idea of ‘The World’s Biggest Classroom.’

Inspired by the article, Winfrey decided to recycle her best episodes and use them as an educational guide which will “teach people how to live their best lives,” she said.

An online companion class featuring actual course work will also be available on Oprah.com to provide a more integrated experience.  No details have been released on which archive episodes will be featured in the new show. Hosted by Winfrey, “Own Your Own Life (The Oprah Class)” will air weeknights at 8/7c starting October 10.
