Talk about showing up late to the emergency. Less than a week after Amy WInehouse was found dead in her London home, her passing filed under music stars who passed at age 27, and her funeral a ratings grabber on the entertainment news programs, where it was noted Kelly Osbourne wore her hair in a beehive in tribute to her troubled friend, former supermodel Janice Dickinson and rehab specialist-turned-HLN host Dr. Drew Pinsky have stepped forward with new information. “What people don’t know is that Amy tried to contact me a few weeks ago and she wanted to be sober,” Dickinson told reporters at an event Wednesday night. “She called me before she went into rehab.” Apparently Winehouse also reached out to Dr. Drew. “I found out also yesterday that believe it or not she was trying to contact me which was weird,” Pinsky said during a morning call-in segment to KROQ radio station. “Janice Dickenson told me that. I remember getting calls from Europe and thinking ‘what the hell is this?’ We could have maybe gotten her over to someplace really good, but again, more sadness to that story.” But they didn’t. “Why would Pinsky make this public if it’s even true?” someone commented on The Hollywood Reporter’s website. On a brighter note, though, Pinsky said he heard that Winehouse’s apparent overdose “freaked out” Charlie Sheen’s ex wife Brooke Mueller and was “motivating her to get sober. So occasionally this thing does get a few people to wake up.” Earlier in the week, Pinsky devoted one of his HLN shows to Winehouse and described her death as untimely and senseless, but not shocking or even surprising.
