After nearly three decades and who knows how many tales of philandering, Gene Simmons offered to finally make an honest woman out of the mother of his children, Shannon Tweed.
The Kiss frontman proposed on the season finale of his reality show “Gene Simmons Family Jewels” Tuesday night – because nothing says romance and spontaneity like popping the question with cameras rolling.
Or ratings. With three million viewers tuned in for the big moment, it was the most-watched episode in the series’ six years on the air.
The couple was on vacation in Belize. “I come with so much baggage, but you’re the only friend I’ve got. I used to watch movies where they say, ‘I can’t live without you,’ but for me it’s true,” he told her.
The question might come with a caveat, since the proposal was shot before Simmons went on Joy Behar’s HLN show and “The Talk” in June to defend allegations of his infidelity, The Washington Post noted.
It should also be noted the episode ended with a cliffhanger. Instead of a yes or no from Tweed, viewers were informed the family saga was “To Be Continued.” New episodes, in fact, begin again September 6.
After the episode aired, both Simmons and Tweed took to the platform where celebrities air all major relationship issues: Twitter.
“Shannon and I work on our relationship every day,” Simmons tweeted Tuesday. “One day at a time. Thanks for watching. When we figure out our lives, you will know.”
Tweed seemed to be in that same uncertain place writing: “We are taking it day by day. Stay tuned.”
Wait. You mean that scene from a reality show might not actually reflect actual reality?!
